A WORLD champion baton twirler from Winchester has been nominated for a prestigious award.

Georgia Langston is up for Social Media Champion of the Year at Everyone Active’s Sporting Champion Awards, which will be held at Porchester Hall in Bayswater, London on Tuesday, November 7.

The Social Champion of the Year award recognises those who have been fully engaged with the Sporting Champions programme, actively contributing through their social media involvement and supporting community events.

The event will be hosted by Great Britain’s double world 110m hurdles champion and former world record holder Colin Jackson.

Over the past year, Georgia has won the British Baton Twirling Sporting Association Champion of Champion award, securing her the position of the highest-ranked English Competitor for BBTSA.

Alongside Georgia, Winchester Sport and Leisure Park has also been nominated for Everyone Active’s Sporting Champion Awards, for the Site of The Year category. This award acknowledges the high standard of facilities and day-to-day colleague support provided to athletes who use the Everyone Active Sporting Champions Scheme.

The Sporting Champions Awards ceremony will be preceded by a mentoring workshop, led by the scheme’s team of elite athletes.

Olympic and Paralympic stars Lutalo Muhammad, Richard Kilty, Maisie Summers-Newton, Kadeena Cox and Lauren Steadman will share their insights and experiences to help guide the Sporting Champions athletes in their own careers.
