THOUSANDS of people are expected to enjoy the spectacle of motocross as a world championship returns to fields near Winchester

The final of the 2023 FIM Motocross World Championship will be coming to the Matterley Basin this weekend.

Taking place from Saturday, September 23 to Sunday, September 24, the sweeping valley circuit has been the home of the British Grand Prix for more than a decade and this weekend will host the fastest riders in the world for the 13th time.

Each year, Matterley Basin is one of the best venues in Europe and is often voted by the riders as one of the favourites on the MXGP racing calendar. It is not only a great circuit for the best riders in the world but also great for the fans who always get to enjoy some of the best racing action with the bonus of unobstructed views.

Hampshire Chronicle:

There are four classes taking to the track across the weekend, with the European 125cc & 250cc championships, along with the World MX2 and premier MXGP class, giving race fans 10 races to watch over both days.

The truly global series has already visited the likes of Argentina, Turkey, Indonesia and many European countries, so to have the finale in Hampshire, is a great opportunity for the area and the UK as a whole.

Champions in all classes will be crowned, with the addition of some extra interest from one-off rides for some of the best UK and Ireland-based riders.

The event is expected to attract at least 20,000 people over the two days.

Tickets for the event are currently available at www.britmxgrandprix.com.
