Hampshire captain James Vince impressed on his T20 international debut as England beat Pakistan.

Batting at three, Vince made a 36-ball 41 (six fours, one six) as England recovered from 19-3 to make 160-5 in the opening match of the three-match series in Dubai.

It helped England to a 14-run win after his Hampshire teammate Reece Topley took 3-24.

Vince arrived at the crease with England 16-1 following former Hampshire bowler Sohail Tanvir's dismissal of Jason Roy at the end of the second over.

The 24 year-old had not faced a ball when Alex Hales was caught via a leading edge three deliveries later.

And he had only faced one, from which he scrambled a leg bye against Tanvir, when Moeen Ali was caught at cover.

But he than shared a fourth-wicket stand of 76 from 61 balls with England captain Eoin Morgan.

Vince continued last season's form, when he made more T20 runs (710 at 59.6) than any player in the history of England's domestic T20 competition.

He made his England debut in an abandoned one-day international against Ireland in Dublin in May but this was his first innings in a full international.

Two fours in four balls in the final over of the powerplay were followed by a second off-side boundary, against his former Hampshire teammate Shahid Afridi (4-0-33-0)

At the beginning of the tenth over he slog-swept the medium pace of Imran Khan for the first six of the match over square-leg.

After two more fours in successive Afridi overs - a full toss dispatched to mid-wicket followed by a sweep - Vince was bowled hitting across the line of a slower ball from left-armer Wahab Riaz at the end of the 14th over, attempting to make up for one run in five balls for Morgan.
Vince was furious with himself but impressed many.

England captain Morgan then shared an unbroken 65 from the least seven overs with Sam Billings (53 from 25 balls), making an unbetaen 45 (38 balls, five fours, two sixes) as Pakistan were set 161 to win.

Topley made the first breakthrough as Pakistan were bowled out for 146.

The tall left-armer had opening batsman Sarfraz Ahmed caught at deep-backward square-leg in his first over during an impressive opening spell (2-0-9-1)

He was smashed into the stands by Tanvir at the beginning of his second (2-0-15-2).

But he responded with some good yorkers before having Wahab Riaz caught by Moeen Ali at long on and Imran Khan caught behind in the final over.
