Lego lovers flocked to Hampshire to attend a celebration of the beloved brick this weekend.

Brick Festival arrived at Places Leisure in Eastleigh with a bang on Sunday, April 28.

Coming as the first event of its kind in the area, attendees were treated to retro Lego sets, free games, merchandise, and much more.

Organiser George Burrows said he was excited to finally bring the ‘great community event’ to the area.

Hampshire Chronicle:

He said: “Lego brings the community together in a different kind of way to other events.

“It has been around for many years and Lego is great at bringing people, who do not have anything else like this in their area, together.

“The Brick Festival is great for families, collectors, friends, solo people, and more. There is a great family feel to it.

“It makes for a great day out.”

The festival was already inundated with thousands of attendees just two hours into the event on Sunday, with more expected to fly through the doors.

But Lego fanatics were also found behind some of the stalls, displaying impressive, handcrafted creations.

He said: “I started collecting Iron Man figurines in 2012 when Lego began selling them.

“When more were released, I kept collecting them. One section of my display was only added two weeks ago.

“I am really enjoying displaying at the Brick Festival and this is my first event outside of Milton Keynes.

“When I tell people this is not an official Lego set, a lot of them are blown away.”

Among those impressed with the festival’s offering were mother-and-son Sophie and Rory Fenwick.

Rory, aged six, was keen to attend the event as a big lover of Lego.

Mum Sophie said: “We went to a similar festival in Bournemouth last year, but as we live in Fair Oak it was a bit far.

“So, it is nice that we now have this event up the road from us.

“We love the event and Rory has had a great time.”

Organiser George added: “We want everyone here to have a really good day out.

“That is at the heart of an event like this. There is something for everyone, and that is our ethos.

“There is a mix of different people from all walks of life.”
