I was shocked to read that Hampshire County Council is planning to cut 26 school crossing patrols to help balance their books.
This is stupidity at its highest level. The safety of children must override all cuts. There is a lot of waste in the council and they could reduce the salaries of some high paying senior staff and sell off some buildings as so many staff now work from home.
This would provide over the £1.1 million needed to preserve the school crossings. I see so many cars driving 50mph through 20mph zones and there was a huge crash near me in Hoe Road a few months ago when a big SUV car overturned in a 20mph zone.
You can’t put a price on a child’s life.
