I would like to add my voice in support of Elizabeth Proudman who I think should be given weight in view of her long work about Jane and her life.

What I fear is that some financial deal is in place and the authorities are trying to justify this.

If it is felt a statue is needed outside Church House, how about William Walker and his helmet so that children learn how his foundation work saved the cathedral?

He was a modest man whose unselfish work probably shortened his life, but he is a representative of working-class men.

I have heard that there is a good seated sculpture of Jane that could be put in the attractive garden, opposite her temporary home in College Street, which one will be able to visit.
