Letter: 'This is not a batting average to be proud of'

It was the Conservative led administrations from 2011/12 to 2018/19 that spent £15.6million of the Winchester City Council budget on central Winchester regeneration and achieved nothing. 

To use Mr Godfrey's cricketing analogy this is not a batting average to be proud of. Councillors Horrill and Godfrey did no better on the proposals for "Station Approach" that they so enthusiastically backed and spent another £3.9million of the budget on and again achieved nothing. 

As I recall the latter initiative was, to use a different sporting analogy, kicked into touch following vigorous local opposition.

The history of major city council-led development projects in Winchester over the last 14 years gives no cause for confidence. Conservative councillors on the city council would do us all a favour by accepting their responsibility for a substantial part of this unhappy outcome.
