The Hampshire Chronicle has launched a new feature highlighting the glorious wealth of our images held in the archives.

The intention is to make it a regular feature of the newspaper using the photographs that are being cared for by Hampshire Cultural Trust.

Many readers will be surprised to know that for decades the main courtrooms in the city were in the Great Hall until 1974 when the new building was completed next door.

The Tichborne Dole is held at the end of March every year and the photo shows how little the ceremony has changed.
