Garden Rescue’s Charlie Dimmock will help celebrate the opening of a new retirement community in Romsey.

Fans of the BBC’s Garden Rescue are in for a treat in February, as the popular daytime TV presenter will join retirees as McCarthy Stone’s newest retirement community on Abbotswood Common Road opens.

Taking place at Glebe Court on Wednesday, February 28 between 12pm and 3pm, the gardening guru will give an exclusive demonstration on creating a perfect potted plant display, before performing a ceremonial ribbon-cutting to mark the development ‘officially open’.

Attendees will have the opportunity to get to know the real Charlie in a candid meet and greet session in the stylish communal lounge, where they can enjoy a glass of fizz and delicious light bites.

Throughout the day, the McCarthy Stone team will be on hand to offer a guided tour of the Retirement Living development, allowing prospective homeowners to discover the community’s facilities and services designed to offer a “more comfortable and practical living experience.”

Readers who wish to attend must reserve a place in advance by calling 0800 153 3076.

Nicki Beswarick, divisional marketing manager for McCarthy Stone, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be able to welcome Charlie Dimmock to officially open our fabulous new development in Romsey. We expect that she’ll be a real draw for those living locally and wishing to find out more about the retirement lifestyle on offer here.

“Our low maintenance, energy-efficient retirement properties allow homeowners to enjoy their independence, with the added benefit of communal areas for socialising with neighbours.  As a result, Glebe Court is fast becoming a thriving community of like-minded individuals who are very excited about the Grand Opening and the chance to show this off.”

Exclusively designed for the over 60s, Glebe Court pairs 36 spacious one and two-bedroom apartments with “state-of-the-art” facilities to create a “unique brand of retirement living.”

The development provides a “safe and friendly living environment” with a 24-hour emergency call system and door camera entry, along with a house manager to oversee its day-to-day running.

The communal lounge provides the setting for a host of social activities, while the landscaped gardens serve as a peaceful sanctuary in which to unwind.

Property prices at Glebe Court start from £250,000 for a one-bedroom retirement apartment and from £395,000 for a two-bedroom retirement apartment. Rental retirement properties are also available.
