A WINCHESTER man has been fined for careless driving.

Jesse Barnaby, of The Valley, Stanmore, was caught by police driving a 60-reg Vauxhall Insignia Elite without due care and attention on the A34 near Sutton Scotney on October 21, a court heard.

Appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, January 18, the 25-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence.

He was fined £358, with £143 surcharge and costs of £85. The total amount of £586 must be paid by February 15.

Barnaby has also had six points added to his licence.

A charge of driving whilst unfit through drink was withdrawn by the prosecution.
