Regarding potential changes to Winchester A&E, I agree wholeheartedly with Philip Glassborow's letter.
Winchester serves the region exceptionally well as a key emergency hub.
Common sense dictates that creating two or more A&E capabilities outside Winchester would not in reality address the needs of people requiring emergency treatment. Further, patients admitted to Winchester A&E and then moved to Basingstoke for serious treatment means more ambulance trips along the typically traffic-jammed M3, in addition to potential patient stress and anxiety.
Winchester A&E is a credit to the regional NHS, putting lives first.
