That several hundred objections to the development of Bushfield Camp have been lodged is depressing. The "no growth coalition" is clearly thriving and still denying the high costs of their worldview.

Our young people need homes and jobs, new business needs space, Winchester itself needs newness to retain its enterprising people and our community needs to pay for its infrastructure overheads, including environmental protections. Our collective services need resources from business and domestic rates; Winchester has little funding to spend on improvements, and it is quite likely that Hampshire County will declare bankruptcy in 2024.

To achieve this, we cannot live in an unchanging world, the nation has to make some money somewhere rather than kowtowing to middle-class dog walkers and tree huggers. I too love nature, but not at the expense of a self-supporting solvent community.
