A SELF-TAUGHT DIY enthusiast is joining fellow social media influencers to back a UK campaign aimed at helping to raise confidence by sharing tricks of the trade.

Mum-of-three Hannah Otto from Hampshire is one of six DIY enthusiasts who are divulging their ideas as part of a #DIYSkillShare campaign to encourage the nation to share their top tips.

Championing the mission is waste removal firm, HIPPO, which has created the movement to help people.

Hannah’s idea sees her laying a wooden floor and showing how, with the right tools, it is just like putting together a big jigsaw puzzle. You can watch her at work here instagram.com/p/C0cXmSssBa9/.

Hannah, aka @theottohouse, said: “The #DIYSkillShare movement is a fantastic way to help upskill the nation, especially at a time when the cost of living is impacting many people. Our home is a mix of vintage, new and upcycled projects and wherever possible, I love to share the process because I hope it helps people realise that if I can do it, they can do DIY too.”

Gareth Lloyd-Jones, HIPPO’s managing director, said: “While many people would love to give DIY a go, confidence can hold them back. Recent research we carried out also showed that only 28 per cent of Brits would speak to another person to learn new DIY skills. The #DIYSkillShare movement aims to encourage people to overcome their DIY hang-ups by sharing advice, tips, and success stories.

“What better way to help the nation build confidence than through the team of influencers like Hannah who have gone from novices to DIY whizzes. As well as plucking up the courage to tackle jobs around their homes themselves, they have each generated a hugely impressive number of followers by recognising the benefits of sharing their experiences and learnings along the way.”
