Power at the hospital continued to be affected into Friday, November 24 - nearly 24 hours after the crash.

The hospital is encouraging people to only use the Emergency Department in an emergency. Appointments are continuing as normal unless people are contacted directly by the hospital.

A spokesperson said: "Yesterday, the Trust called a critical incident following a vehicle collision with a power unit in the car park at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester.

"The power to some areas of the site continues to be affected. Our backup generators are running to keep these areas operating safely.

"Our focus continues to be on managing the incident whilst continuing to provide care to our patients. Our priority remains keeping our patients, staff and visitors safe."

They continued: "We are asking people to attend the Emergency Department only if it is an emergency. People should continue to attend their appointments.

"You can help by supporting us to get your loved ones home as soon as the decision has been made that they are ready to be discharged.
