I'm sure I wasn't the only one to take a sharp intake of breath on reading the latest planning application for Bushfield Camp.

I have been to a couple of the earlier meetings regarding the site and the development is getting bigger and bigger but still remains a mystery as to what it actually will contain.

Why do they need 525 student bed, a 100 bed hotel and particularly 1,055 car parking spaces? There has never been a confirmation of which businesses are intending to locate there. It all seems very suspicious.

Look at the photographs in last week's paper with people cycling up a path surrounded by re-wilding areas. Not one of the 1,055 cars in sight.

What the city does need is more social housing and as the land is owned by the church, the alleged champions of the poor, this is an opportunity for them to make a positive impact and donate the land for this purpose.

Finally I would like to say I have found a use for the councillor for climate emergency. Work out the impact of vehicle emissions for 1,055 cars stuck in traffic at the roundabout at the end of Badger Farm Road.
