A HAMPSHIRE historical railway is promising thrills and chills this Halloween.

The Watercress Line is hosting its spooktacular Wizard Week from October 21 to October 29.

Harry Potter fans will be able to hop on board the Wizard Express steam train and walk in his magical footsteps over the famous railway footbridge where Harry received his Hogwarts Express ticket in the film.

Guests can also see a Harry Potter style coach at Alresford, meeting creepy crawly creatures, wise owls and fearless falcons and taking ‘flying lessons’ with Professors Slugwind and Apricus.

There will be scary stories and mystical magic shows. Creepy crafts will give youngsters the chance to create spooky bat mobiles, badges and for an additional cost, conjure up magic wands.

Young visitors are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes for the Watercress Line’s fancy dress competition – with three age categories and great prizes for: Under 4s - ‘Brand New Wizards’; 4 to 8-year-olds – ‘Emerging Wand Talent’ and Overs 8s - ‘Potion Masters’.

There will be unlimited steam train rides all week, allowing all the family to be enchanted by the Watercress Line’s four heritage stations along the route.

The Watercress Line’s CEO, Rebecca Dalley, said: “Prepare to be scared – this year’s Wizard Week will be just as spellbinding as ever! Make sure you book your tickets online as soon as possible.”

Not all activities will be held every day of Wizard Week, so guests are asked to check the Watercress Line website for more information and book tickets.
