After weeks of wet and cold weather, People heading to Boomtown will be hoping for sunny skies and warmer conditions. 

Thousands of people are expected to attend the festival on the Matterley Estate near Winchester.

With Boomtown taking place from Wednesday, August 9 to Sunday, August 13 it may be helpful for festivalgoers to know what the weather will be like over the weekend.

Last week, Wickham Festival was a washout, with festival-goers battling muddy fields and heavy rain to enjoy the live music. The weather was so poor, tractors were brought out to help move cars through the wet fields. 

This is the weather forecast for Boomtown according to the Met Office. Of course, this is only accurate at the time of writing and is subject to change. 

  • Thursday: Highs of 25C with sunshine forecast from 3pm until 8pm. Lows of 18C. 
  • Friday: Highs of 24C, with cloudy conditions. The sun is forecast to appear from 2pm until 5pm. Lows of 17C.
  • Saturday: Highs of 20C forecast. Light showers are forecast from 1pm until 7pm. Lows of 16C. 
  • Sunday: Highs of 20C forecast. Mixed conditions are forecast, including light showers and sunny intervals. Lows of 15C.

The full Met Office forecast for Boomtown reads: 

"Some patches of mist, fog and low cloud are possible in rural parts at the start of the Thursday. These will soon clear to leave a fine and dry day. Feeling very warm, with light winds. Maximum temperature 28 °C. A dry evening, with bright or sunny spells. Cloud spreading in from the west overnight, but it should remain largely dry. Feeling muggy. Minimum temperature 15 °C.

"The odd shower is possible on Friday, but generally it will be dry, with cloud clearing eastwards through the morning to leave sunny spells. Still quite warm but becoming breezier. Maximum temperature 26 °C.

"Outlook for Saturday to Monday will be cooler, with temperatures returning to near average for August. Sunny spells and a few showers, locally heavy. Breezy Saturday, particularly along the south coast."
