MANY Hampshire businesses have celebrated one, two and three-star achievements in the Great Taste Awards.

These prestigious foodie awards were announced on Monday, July 31.

The likes of Church Paddock Fishery, near Winchester, and 108 The Bakery, in Romsey, had the three-star honour bestowed upon them.

The annual awards recognises businesses across the country with the best products and gold stars are awarded for excellence in either food or drink.

Hockey's Farm Shop received the three-star award for their 'Rare breed British lop spare rip of pork'.

108 The Bakery was given the honour for 'Seeded sour'.

The Noble Bee got three stars for 'The Noble Bee Honey', while Church Paddock Fishery was given the honour for 'Vistong original'.

Organised by the Guild of Fine Food, more than 100 judges including leading critics, chefs, buyers and restaurateurs sieve through thousands of entrants to come up with a definitive list.

Products receive a one, two or three-star rating if they are ranked among the best by judges, with the majority receiving no rating at all.

Around two per cent of products receive three-star ratings, meaning extraordinarily tasty, each year.

Less than 10 per cent achieve two stars, meaning outstanding, and roughly 25 per cent of entries are awarded one star.
