A WINCHESTER fundraiser has been presented with a long-service certificate by international charity Christian Aid.
Rosemary Dunhill, who recently stepped down as a church representative for the organisation, started delivering its iconic red envelopes in the 1970s before eventually taking over a local organiser role.
She said: “I have supported Christian Aid in various towns as I’ve moved around the country.
“As an organiser, I’ve worked with committees on all kinds of activities, including quizzes, soup lunches, a series of murder-mystery plays, and collections. Lockdowns brought these to an end and involved us in a lot of rethinking but we have come up with great new ways of involving people.
“It has always been great to hear about Christian Aid’s work in other countries, especially from people living and working there and I have learned a lot from the conferences I have attended as well.

“Other people’s fundraising has also been a great inspiration, and none more so than our local cyclist, Jane Hough, who has just completed her 29th annual cycling marathon abroad.”
Money raised by supporters like Rosemary and Jane helps Christian Aid’s work, through local partners, in vulnerable communities around the globe, tackling poverty and injustice.
Liz Burrell, Christian Aid Church Engagement and Fundraising Officer, said this support was invaluable.
She added: “We can’t thank Rosemary enough for her many years’ work and enthusiasm. Without our supporters, our work would not be possible.”
