VOLUNTEERS braved the rain for Romsey Cancer Support Centre’s annual street collection.
Supporters of Jane Scarth House, in The Hundred, gave up their time to collect money via cash or card, working in hourly slots throughout the wet and windy weather and raising £875.55.
Joining the 46 volunteers across the town on Saturday, July 22 for seven hours of collections was Thor, the cancer charity’s donation dog, who also welcomed donations via a card reader mounted on his back.

Centre manager Rachel Tucker said: “These fundraising events are very important to a small independent charity like ours and we really appreciate the generous support of the local people in Romsey for their donations.
"Also, a big thank you to everyone who gave their time and helped during this fundraising event. Times are hard for many people now with rising prices and interest rates, which makes the generosity of the public and their support even more special to us.”
Jane Scarth House offers a range of free services for cancer patients and their families and carers in across Hampshire and Wiltshire. The centre is open Monday to Friday from 9am and 4pm. For more information go to janescarthhouse.co.uk/.
