A HAMPSHIRE hotel, spa and manor house is inviting guests to indulge in a slice of British tradition for Afternoon Tea Week.
Norton Park, in Sutton Scotney, will be marking the occasion with an exclusive offering of afternoon tea from Friday, August 11 to Sunday, August 13 in the 16th century Manor House.
The national celebration was introduced in England by Anna Russell, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, in 1840. The Duchess would become hungry between meals in the afternoon and would request a tray of tea, sandwich and cake be brought to her room.

The event at Norton Park includes traditional favourites such as finger sandwiches, scones, lemon drizzle cake and Victoria sponge as well as more unusual dishes like raspberry and orange Battenberg. A selection of Twinning’s tea and coffee will also be available.
General manager Paul Russell said: “The Manor House at Norton Park is a beautiful venue with historical features and views across the picturesque grounds. It seems only fitting for us to celebrate National Afternoon Tea Week with a special service within its glorious Conservatory, Orangery and Lounges.”
