The unsightly Churchill hoardings surrounding Edwina Mountbatten House are the least of our worries.

What happened to the much heralded TVBC public ‘consultation’ a couple of years ago to the masterplan ideas for the ‘south of town centre’ development which embraced the Mountbatten site?

Without the Mountbatten House site forming an integral part of the redevelopment of Crosfield Hall, the opportunity for a comprehensive plan will be lost.

Another tall block of retirement flats in the centre of Romsey on this prominent site, surrounded by busy traffic on three sides, is a form of development no longer appropriate in this location.

Such a prospect will seriously compromise the strategy for expanding the commercial centre, with adequate car parking, to meet future needs as Romsey grows.

I trust that TVBC will refuse permission
