A Hampshire country pub's plan for a 24-bed hotel, new car park and kitchen extension, has received three supporting comments.
The Four Horseshoes, just outside Nursling, reopened in 2019 following an extensive renovation.
Supporters of the scheme welcome the addition of a hotel which is set to create eight full-time and 21 part-time jobs.
The pub, which can be seen from junction 3 of the M27, is owned by the same brand as The Duke on the Test, just outside Romsey.
John O'Driscoll, of Nursling Street, said: “I'm fully supporting this application. Any investment into the local area is very welcome.

“In this case it will help support the ongoing business growth of The Four Horseshoes, which for the last four years seems to have been a stunning success despite the challenges of the pandemic and all the associated lockdowns. This project will create more jobs and boost the local economy.
“The owners of The Four Horseshoes deserve huge credit for the renovation and upgrading of the pub and if the same success is replicated with the planned new hotel this can only be a good thing for Nursling and Rownhams.”
Kate Chalmers, of Watley Close, said: “The previous renovation of The Four Horseshoes has been a wonderful asset to our community, which my partner and I use as much as possible as we only live around the corner.
“The proposed addition of accommodation will only serve to add character to the building and will also create employment opportunities in our lovely village. We would welcome the accommodation to ensure our favourite pub stays with us and our visiting family can also have a wonderful place to stay which isn't a faceless chain, but staying as a locally owned business as part of The Four Horseshoes.”

Tony Hill and Lana Reynolds, of Nursling Street, said: “We are very supportive of the addition of a small hotel opposite the Four Horseshoes. The renovated pub is of a high standard, I would regard it as a 'destination' place for families and friends to socialise. The hotel, if in keeping with the high quality service and style of the Four Horseshoes will compliment the local area.”
On the planning statement, it said: “Since reopening in 2019, following extensive renovation, extension and investment, The Four Horseshoes has successfully become well integrated in the local area as a valued community asset, receiving Trip Advisors Travellers Choice awards in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
“The annex will be a one and a half storey detached building providing a total of 24 double ensuite bedrooms. Eleven rooms will be at ground floor level with office and ancillary plant room and 13 rooms will be on the first floor.
“It is anticipated that the accommodation annex will generate some eight full-time and 21 part-time jobs, whilst the PH will provide for some 14 full time and three part-time jobs.”
