THE LEGENDARY Grammy Award-winning artist Lionel Richie is opening a 'spectacular' open-air concert at Broadlands this week.

Famed for his incredibly popular songs including 'Hello', 'Dancing On The Ceiling' and 'All Night Long', the musical sensation is coming to Broadlands on Tuesday, June 27.

Here is everything you need to know before the event:

Timings:

The singer will appear at the AEG Summer Concert at the mid-Georgian estate in picturesque parkland by the River Test near Romsey will begin at 5.30pm on Tuesday, June 27.

8,000 visitors are expected to attend the event, which is completely sold out.

The car park will open at 4pm, with gates opening at 5pm. 

The second support act will start at 5.30pm, with the main support starting at 7.45pm. 

Last entry will be at 9pm. It should finish at 10.30pm.

Traffic Restrictions:

Traffic restrictions will be placed on the following roads:

  • Southampton Road, Romsey
  • Romsey By-Pass, Romsey
  • Southampton Road, Romsey
  • Burma Road, Romsey
  • Palmerston Street, Romsey

Roadworks:

Roadworks are being carried out on the following roads, meaning that queues will be likely:

  • A27, near Lee Lane, with multi-way traffic signals in place
  • A27, Southampton Road
  • B3398, Broadwater Road

Lionel Richie’s music is part of the fabric of popular culture with more than 125 million albums sold worldwide.

Richie has won an Oscar, a Golden Globe, four Grammy Awards, and most recently, was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2022 Class.

Last year, he received the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song by the American Library of Congress and is the 12th recipient of the prestigious award.

Richie’s further mega-hits such as ‘Endless Love’, ‘Lady’, ‘Truly’, ‘Penny Lover’, ‘Stuck on You’, ‘Say You, Say Me’, as well as his hits with The Commodores including ‘Three Times a Lady’, ‘Still’, and ‘Easy’, have seen him become one of music’s best-loved and most iconic stars.

On Lionel performing at Broadlands, Countess Mountbatten of Burma, owner of Broadlands Estate said: "We are delighted that Senbla are bringing a performer of Lionel Richie’s calibre to Broadlands.
