Fire crews spent hours tackling a fire outdoors near Roke Manor, Awbridge, near Romsey.

They spent much of yesterday (June 14) battling the flames on about one hectare of undergrowth and Rhododendron bushes.

The site of the fire was difficult to access which meant significant manpower was required, with around 60 firefighters during the height of the incident.

They successfully created a fire break, surrounded the fire and extinguished it using jets and multiple small tools.

The initial call came in at 9.30am and the stop message at 8pm, with four fire engines remaining on site for around a further two hours to damp down the area.

Re-inspection of the site was due to take place at 6.30am this morning to check if it has flared again.
