The comic production presents two confident men on holiday who make a bet to prove the fidelity of their partners. The moral experiment enfolds over a day and a night, charged by coffee, chocolate (the favoured aphrodisiac of the day), wine, poison and more.

The opera, which dates back to 1789, was not fully appreciated until modern times but is now at the core of every opera house’s programme.
