AN ARTS charity is on the search for keen thespians who’d welcome the opportunity to work with professional actors in the annual pantomime.

Play to the Crowd, the arts and education charity that runs Theatre Royal Winchester, Hat Fair and Playmakers community engagement work, is recruiting support cast members for this year’s family pantomime, Cinderella.

The organisation, which produces the Winchester pantomime, wants to hear from local performers with dance experience, who are also keen on acting and singing, to volunteer with the cast in this year’s show.

The rags to riches tale will run at the theatre in Jewry Lane from Thursday, November 30 to New Year’s Day. Organisers believe support cast roles provide a great opportunity for those who want to broaden their performance and industry experience and work with established professionals.

Anyone aged over 16 can apply by Wednesday, June 14, with full details about the auditions sent out as invitations to successful applicants.

Auditions will involve learning one or two dance routines before performing the routines in small groups to a small panel.

Support cast members need to be free for rehearsals in the autumn and must be available to be a member of one of two teams, with each team performing half of 57 shows, on alternating days.

Successful applicants may also need to take part in promotional events and social media coverage before or during the pantomime’s run.

A full list of rehearsals and performances will be available at the auditions.

To apply go to theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk/news. Anyone wanting to express their interest by other means, (e.g. video or recorded audio) should contact Valerie Skaf on valerie@playtothecrowd.co.uk

This year’s pantomime is supported by Play to the Crowd’s corporate partner, regional law firm, Paris Smith.
