The Winchester Mayfest once again returned to The City of Kings and Priests as hundreds of people enjoyed the favourable weather on fair day.
With a sunny and balmy 19° on Saturday afternoon, residents gathered to watch the Morris dancing that is a staple of the event.
The event, on Saturday, May 20, was the second post-Covid run of the festival and featured Appalachian dancing alongside British dancing.
Over two-dozen groups of a veritable A-Z (or A-W, as it were) of performers from Winchester and surrounding areas, from the Aldbrickham Clog & Step Dancers to the Winchester Morris Men, provided plenty of spectacle.

The festivities began at 10am as the Morris dancing group Mary Rose and Royal George performed at the Great Hall.
The Southampton Folk Orchestra performed at 11am in St Lawrence’s Church and a mass public participation dance was led by Wickham Morris in Cathedral West at 2pm, allowing festivalgoers the opportunity to get out on the dance floor and try Morris dancing for themselves.
The festival drew to a close around 4.30pm after the final performances of the Aldbrickham Clog & Step Dancers and Wickham Morris.
