ROMSEY Rugby Club celebrated its awards evening in style as the first-ever event in the new club lounge.

On Friday, May 5, the club hosted its awards presentation evening in its home at Ganger Farm.

Guests enjoyed welcome drinks on the balcony while the sun shone over the pitch. The room had been dressed for the occasion and there was a buzz in the air as everyone looked forward to toasting the end of the season.

Dinner was provided by Ady Green Catering for more than 100 guests, with a team of waiting staff made up of players from the under 15 and 16s teams who were pleased to lend their services.

The under 15’s team received the largest round of applause for putting the first of many trophies into the new clubhouse.

A raffle and auction on the night raised more than £1,400 which will be split between the club and The Matt Hampson Foundation, with many of the prizes being donated by local businesses. The evening finished off with a live band and dancing.

The event marked a new era for the sports club which is hoping to use its new home to become a community asset.

President of Romsey Rugby Club, Eric Bailey, said: "After all the hard work from members and volunteers from across the Club, it was highly rewarding to see a wide cross-section of members and parents finally enjoying our facilities at Ganger Farm. This is the result of years of work and planning and we are working hard to ensure that all members young and old, current or future, will have access to the excellent facilities both inside and outside at Ganger Farm.”
