A WINCHESTER dance charity has launched a wheelchair-based class for seven to 13 years olds.

Move Momentum’s newest academy, Liberate Youth, opened up to the younger age group in April, with sessions held each Saturday at Unit 12 in Winnall.

Liberate Youth involves a mixture of dance styles but having fun is the main aim, with the class helping participants to make friends in an inclusive and adaptive environment.

Chief executive Amanda Watkinson said: “With all our wonderful original Liberate Youth students having now graduated to our Liberate Adult classes, we’re taking the opportunity to relaunch Liberate Youth with a younger lower age limit of seven years to meet the many requests we’ve had from parents. Our first class was hugely enjoyable, and we’re excited for all the future classes this term.

“We still have some spaces left in the class so people can come along for a free trial if they’re interested.”

Move Momentum aims to provide accessible, inclusive and affordable dance classes for young people, over 65s and wheelchair users.

The new class follows a campaign to raise £3,000 so to keep the organisation running.

The charity's latest academy, Liberate Dance, was created alongside GB Vickie Simmonds. The new classes for seven to 13-year-olds are available at a subsidised rate of £3 with an additional discount for block bookings.
