FLEET-based charity, DogsnHomes Rescue has announced that it has reached a significant milestone in its mission to rescue and rehome dogs in need.

The charity aims to aid dogs from the UK and Portugal. It is about to rehome its 500th puppy, a female dog who was discovered with her mum and siblings on the streets of Portugal’s Alentejo region.

The dog is expected to arrive at DogsnHomes HQ at the end of May and, at just four months old, is already showing signs of being a big, healthy dog.

Puppy number 500 has been named “Quinhentos”, or “Quin” for short, which is the Portuguese word for 500. She was named by DogsnHomes co-founders Gary Baxter and Michelle Ballard after they asked the charity’s 9,500 Facebook followers for suggestions.

Gary described Quinhentos, saying: “She’s going to be around the size of a Labrador Retriever and the whole litter is known for their calm and friendly nature. They are all incredibly affectionate, eager to please and they have already shown themselves to be great with people of all ages. This little girl is no exception. She has a goofy and playful personality that is sure to win the hearts of anyone who meets her.”

The charity is currently looking for a family who can provide a home for Quin, with the love, care and attention she deserves. They are also looking for a family who understands the commitment of owning a large dog and is willing to provide her with the exercise, training, and socialisation she needs to thrive.

Anyone interested in adopting Quinhentos or any other dogs from DogsnHomes can find more information by visiting the charity’s website: dogsnhomes.org.uk.

DogsnHomes Rescue will also be at the Hartley Wintney Village Festival on Saturday, June 10, from 12noon to 5pm.
