HUNDREDS of people from across Hampshire celebrated the Coronation of King Charles III.

Up and down the county, people have held street parties, special events and even screenings to mark the historic occasion.

Despite the changing weather, Hampshire residents still attended gatherings in droves, with parties taking place on the day of the Coronation itself, Saturday, May 6, and in the days which followed.

Alresford residents enjoyed a special event held at Alresford Station on Sunday, May 7. Organised by the Watercress Line, the event featured an array of activities for attendees to enjoy, including face painting and live music. A specially decorated train also arrived at the station during the festivities, accompanied by a performance by Winchester Morris Men and a rendition of God Save The King.

Watercress Line interim CEO Rebecca Dalley told the Chronicle: “It’s been a completely communal activity with the Alresford Town Council, the Winchester City Council, they’ve really supported the event, and all the people who come here. It’s absolutely a delightful day for us to showcase what we do and make a contribution to our local area.”
