Winchester election candidates St Bartholomew and St Luke

On May 4, residents will be able to vote for one candidate in 16 wards. Sitting councillors are marked with an *. 

We invited every candidate standing in the Winchester City Council local election to submit 100-word profiles. 

These are the candidates standing in the St Bartholomew and St Luke wards and their own words as to why they are standing. 

St Bartholomew 

Patrick Davies – Labour 

Patrick has been a long-serving Labour city councillor, still taking an active part in the future of our city, as a regular attendee at meetings and consultations.

He is a Lanterns Nursery School governor and a member of the council of the City of Winchester Trust.

He regularly calls for the proper involvement of local people in new council schemes. Winchester needs Labour councillors to challenge the priorities and complacency of the present city council. 

Nathan Eve – Liberal Democrats 

Nathan has always lived in Winchester. He grew up in Winnall and still lives there. 

He attended local state schools and has always been active in the community and been part of local clubs, before volunteering as a Scouts Young Leader for four years.

Nathan has been working with your Lib Dem team in St Barts since 2018, talking to local people and helping them with their issues. He wants to make it easier to get around on foot and by bike, protect our buses, and continue to improve recycling rates. 

Samuel Feltham – Conservative 

Sam Feltham lives in Winnall with his wife and two children.

He moved to Winchester in 2019 and since then he has grown to love the city but has also become acutely aware that there is room for improvement.

In his day job, Sam is the director of a registered charity called the Public Health Collaboration (Charity no. 1171887), whose mission is to help inspire healthier lifestyles for better public health.

If elected in May, he pledges to hold the current council to account for their actions, fly the flag for Wintonians and bring back pride into local communities. 

Charlotte Harley – Green 

Having grown up in Winchester, Charlotte is passionate about putting Green issues at the forefront of council policies. 

Her priority is to ensure that new buildings/developments are designed with the environment and local community front of mind. 

Charlotte is committed to ensuring that families and young people have access to safe green spaces and that these are protected and maintained. 

Her focus is on implementing sustainable changes that will create a greener city and thriving community, with a commitment to the natural world and future generations. 

St. Luke 

Reece Chadwick – Green 

The reason I have decided to run for councillor of St. Luke’s ward is because, like my neighbours, I want to change and for the people we elect to be more community orientated and to do things for the benefit of every one of us. 

My focus is on creating a happier, better, and safer community for each and every one of us. 

Alison Cochrane – Labour 

Ali is passionate about sustainability and has undertaken voluntary projects to reduce our waste and protect our environment.

As a former solicitor and consultant, she has applied and adapted her skills to diverse situations to achieve the desired outcomes.

Working in a community charity has given her insight into the power of and need for community. “I will listen to you and what you need to build a safe and secure community which includes all of us.” 

Ian Tait – Conservative 

Ian is a lifelong Winchester resident who has established a strong reputation as one of the most outspoken and ardent supporters for more affordable and inclusive housing. 

Having previously served for 19 years on the council, Ian is experienced and knowledgeable about how the council works, particularly in planning and housing matters.    

With a deep commitment to the community, Ian is a longstanding school governor alongside being involved with the Royal British Legion, Relate, the Carroll Centre and the Winchester Housing Trust.    

Well-known around Winchester, Ian is always very approachable and willing to get involved with any resident’s problems.  

Charlie Wise – Liberal Democrats 

Charlie Wise is a local campaigner who has lived in Stanmore for over 20 years. 

Charlie grew up in Stanmore, attended local schools, and worked at the Royal  Hampshire County Hospital for four years.

He cares about our community and has a real stake in seeing its residents and businesses thrive. He wants a fair deal for our area and will fight for the investment we need.

He wants to boost pride in our area with improved green spaces and trees, streetlights and verges and will prioritise tackling antisocial behaviour and crime.
