WINCHESTER’S response and patrol officers located two high risk missing people, made an arrest and issued a caution for drug possession all in a few hours.

On Thursday, April 7 evening, the response and patrol team shared a round-up of their activities as they prepared for the night shift to start the Easter weekend.

Winchester Police posted on Facebook: “Tonight Winchester R&P (Response and Patrol) E shift have been very busy. However, the night is still young, and our colleagues on A shift have now joined us for their night shift.

“PC Williams and PC Harley have made a visit to follow up with some enquiries. Then they went elsewhere to issue a Conditional Caution for posession of a Class B drug. They have also been proactively patrolling the roads of Winchester.

“PC Dyson, PC Fry and PC Wheeler have located two high risk missing people and returned them home safely. They have also had to make some further enquiries about crimes they have been investigating.

“PC McCevoy arrested a male earlier this evening on a warrant with help from the Winchester City Neighbourhood’s team. This male was then further arrested after Cannabis was found on his person. He remains in custody while enquiries continue.”

Hampshire Police has been contacted for comment on if any further progress was made.
