A HAMPSHIRE fire crew was called out to extinguish a fire in Meonstoke, a day after training in the village.

On-call firefighters from Droxford put out a chimney fire in Warnford Road in Corhampton at 7.40pm on Thursday, March 31.

Part of the road was coned off while the crew used stirrup pumps and chimney rods to extinguish the blaze as well as a thermal imaging camera to check it was out.

The team conducted a home fire safety visit before returning to the station shortly before 9pm.

The fire station posted a photo of the smoking chimney and the fire truck on Twitter later that night.

The previous night crews from Droxford, Bishop’s Waltham and Wickham left the station in Union Lane for a training exercise in Meonstoke, practising search and rescue skills and casualty care techniques.
