This time last year Winchester was buzzing with anticipation and excitement because we had a very special royal guest.
On March 3, 2022, King Charles III, who was the Prince of Wales at the time, delighted the crowds gathered outside The Arc, in Jewry Street, as he saw the statue of Licoricia of Winchester and officially opened the renovated library.
Those who remember the exciting day will also recall that the visit was due to be held on February 10 but it was cancelled because our future King had tested positive for Covid.
Royal fans in Winchester didn't have to wait long as King Charles and Camilla returned to the city less than a month later.

In the gallery above we've featured some of the best photos from the day, including the incredible crowd and King Charles greeting those who had waited out in the cold.
Once the future King arrived, he spoke with those in the crowd - including a man dressed as Harry Potter - and spoke with school children, some of who had travelled from Havant.
The day was incredibly special, and one that hundreds in the city will remember for years to come.
