IN reply to Keith Webb's letter about Korea.

This was interesting for me and I agree with all he said. As a 16-year-old boy seaman aboard HMS Ceylon. We arrived at Pusan in August 1950. There we disembarked the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.

The first British troops to join the conflict. Sadly the Americans bombed them with Napalm, killing 17. The government wanted this to be kept secret until the year 2025. We knew nothing of this until later in life.

I think of them every Armistice Day. The bitter cold winds blowing from Manchuria and the icy seas remain with me always.

July 4, 1952, we left Korea and headed for home.

My wife and I went on one of the revisits to Korea a few years ago. The people there were kind to us, thanking me for my bit in the war and making us feel very welcome. We visited the graves and places where the battles were thought.
