JUST two places in the Winchester district are now recording three or more Covid-19 cases.

Since Monday only six cases of coronavirus were recorded across the district, but in the seven days leading up to April 23 just nine cases were registered, down from 18 in the previous week.

According to the latest data from the Government’s interactive map, up to April 18, there are two areas of Winchester still showing more than three cases – three is the lowest number needed to bring the cluster back on to the map. Those areas are Winchester Central and South and Winchester West.

In the seven days leading up to April 18, Winchester Central and South recorded four cases – up two from the previous week, Winchester West recorded three cases – up one from the previous seven days.

Both are new from the previous week (seven days up to April 11), when only Winchester North and Sparsholt featured, with three cases.

The map only shows clusters when there are at least three confirmed results, with anywhere between zero and two cases showing white in order to "protect the privacy of individuals and prevent disclosure."

The map shows positive cases by 'Middle Super Output Area' - the name the Government gives to the break-up of larger towns and groups of neighbouring towns and villages, with groupings covering a greater area than others.

The minimum population in each area is 5,000 and the average is 7,200.
