TICHBORNE Parish Council is growing frustrated by the delay in issuing the decision notice over the planning approval granted in the summer for the BoomTown festival.

In a letter to the South Downs National Park, council clerk Brendan Gibbs said: "A delay of this length is unacceptable."

The notice sets out in detail the exact terms of the planning permission for the site approved in June.

Tim Slaney, director of planning of the national park, replied: "I appreciate the concerns that the decision has not yet been issued on the application, despite all parties working toward this. The National Park Authority seeks to issue decisions in a timely manner and I would have liked to have seen resolution on this application by now.

"There are however extenuating circumstances for the delay notwithstanding that the case officer has been working with all relevant parties to make progress. As with a number of similar applications, it is important that the requirements of the committee members are adequately secured with the appropriate legal wording in the Section 106 Agreement."

"This, rather than the conditions, has taken longer than originally anticipated. I have requested an update and asked that the respective solicitors seek to conclude discussions and have a document ready to be sealed as soon as possible. I can confirm that the wording for the conditions has been progressed. Once therefore the legal agreement is secured the conditions in the attached document will be imposed as part of the decision. I will ensure a copy or link to the decision is sent to you."
