A GROUP of travellers have moved into a Winchester car park just over a month after a family of 22 left.
There are approximately 10 vehicles at the Cattle Market car park and a city council spokesperson said they are thought to be French.
He said: “We believe they have visited before. Police and other agencies are already in contact with them with a view to removing them as soon as possible.
“There is CCTV on site to help protect customers and their vehicles.”
It is thought the travellers arrived yesterday.
A police spokesperson said an initial assessment has been done and details have been taken.
“Police are monitoring the situation and working with the council to move them on,” she said.
“No incidents have been reported to us as a result of them being there.”
In December a French family of 22 were asked to leave the site after a 10 day stay. At the time Porardo Gorjan, one of the travellers, told the Chronicle that he was “sad” to be removed.
The family was expected to return home to a small town in eastern France.
