Police are inviting county residents to give their views on how well youth offending is being tackled in Hampshire and on the Isle of Wight as part of its work to scrutinise the county’s Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC).

The Hampshire Police and Crime Panel (PCP) is holding a series of sessions to assess Commissioner Simon Hayes’ progress after he pledged to reduce the number of young people in the criminal justice system.

The panel are looking for views on how well the PCC is working and how they might adopt new programmes to improve.

Hampshire PCP chairman David Stewart, said: “These proactive scrutiny sessions provide the Police and Crime Panel with an opportunity to represent the voice and expectations of residents, and relay their feedback to the Police and Crime Commissioner.

“The PCC is accountable to the public. Any views the public can give us on how effectively he is tackling his priority to ‘improve frontline policing to deter criminals and keep communities safe’, will play an important part in helping the Panel scrutinise and support his work.”

Members of the public are asked to contribute via email at members.services@hants.gov.uk by September 18.
